Bennett Household Energy Remodel

Project: Energy Remodel, HVAC, Closed Crawl Space, Spray Foam Insulation, Rainwater Harvesting
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
Projected Energy Savings: 35%
Projected Water Savings: 50,000 gallons/year

Walter and Betsy Bennett worked with GH to give their 1970s two-story Chapel Hill home a thorough energy overhaul. From open cell sprayfoam insulation in an unvented attic, to a fully sealed crawl space, to a state-of-the-art 18 SEER Amana heat pump, overall the project is projected to cut energy bills by as much as 35%.

The couple also chose to tackle their water footprint sumultaneously, installing a massive 3000 gallon rainwater harvesting system that provides peace of mind and some independence from the region's increasingly precarious water supplies.
