It’s a milestone day here at Green Horizon. We just completed our 250th home weatherization as part of the North Carolina Weatherization Assistance Program!
This is a great state program which helps low-income North Carolinians save energy and reduce energy bills through a combination of education and inspection and improvement services. More than 3,000 North Carolina families benefit from the program annually and we’re proud to do our part to save these families up to $300 annually on their energy bills.
Aside from the savings, we’re feeling pretty good about the environmental improvements that the weatherization program brings. Every three homes which are weatherized is the equivalent of reducing the annual carbon emissions of one US car. Just the 250 houses that Green Horizon has weatherized along is the equivalent of 247,500 pounds in reduced carbon emissions. To put that another way, that’s the weight of over 20 elephants!
