A Charlotte Home Success Story
March 30, 2011
It goes without saying that we love great houses here at Green Horizon, and if you look at our Residential Project page, you’ll see some of the homes that we’ve worked on.
But the thing that really drives us and gets us excited about coming to work continues to be the homeowners that we work with. It’s one thing to say that we’ve closed a crawl space for a historic home; it’s quite another to say that we helped a family with two small kids make their home more healthy and comfortable, and saved them some money in the process.
We recently had a great success story for a home in Charlotte. The Jamie and LIzzy Ervin loved their 1950's ranch home in the Cotswold area of Charlotte, but despite a modern makeover and renovation a few years previously, they still felt drafts in many rooms and were spending more than $500 per month in gas bills! In addition, there were mold issues that brought up air quality concerns, especially with the two young children in the home.
The Ervin's took advantage of energy tax credits and rebates to implement an Energy Remodel of their lovely home, insulating the attic and sealing the new and old crawl spaces.
The results were dramatic and quick to accumulate - gas bills dropped by more than $200/month and this family of 4 now enjoys a cleaner, more comfortable and efficient home.
And that’s why we love our job.
