The Creepy Crawly Crawl Space
April 9, 2011
I'm a fan of horror movies. I especially like the old classics (poor Lila Crane at the creepy Bates Motel in Psycho, or little Danny wandering the eerie hotel in The Shining). The creepy old house on the hill is practically synonymous with the genre! One of the things that most horror movies having common – a decrepit, poorly-lit, dusty and neglected space where the axe/chainsaw/croquet-mallet wielding maniac is waiting for the innocent victim.
Is it any wonder that most home owners take one look at their crawl spaces and back away shuddering?
Fortunately, we have a hardy lot of Green Horizon employees who are willing to brave crawl spaces, and the dangers therein to improve energy efficiency. Leif, for example, has spent the last week helping homeowners in Chapel Hill to seal a crawlspace, and make the home more healthy, comfortable and efficient for this great family.
I looked long and hard to find a “before” picture of a crawl space that we’d worked on, but frankly, we’re only really inspired to take pictures when we stand back and smile, knowing that the crawl space is taken care of right. So please enjoy the following photos of Leif on the job… and when you have a minute, take a deep breath, be brave and look into your own crawl space. Which would you rather have for your home?
