FETTER FAMILY Home Energy Makeover - Summer 2011
Project: Sprayfoam Insulation, Crawl Space Air Sealing, Vapor Barrier
Location: Charlotte, NC
Projected Energy Savings: 30%Kris Fetter and family simply loved their historic home, built in 1913 and located in the historic Elizabeth area of Charlotte.
But with the older home came a number of challenges, including drafts, awkward dips and valleys in the attic, and old knob and tube wiring that simply wasn't safe any longer.
Green Horizon worked with the Fetter family to identify safe and effective ways to improve their home, including sealing and insulating their large attic and sealing the crawl space against moisture issues.
PROJECT BENEFITS
After just one month, the Fetter family reports that their HVAC units are no longer working overtime to heat and cool the home effectively, and they have enjoyed both a better conditioned space and significant energy savings. Their crawl space is now tight and dry, and they're living rest assured that the safety dangers posed by the old knob and tube wiring is a thing of the past.
THE CLIENT SAYS:
"Owning an holder home means we've had pretty high energy bills. From HVAC to insulation to weatherization, it's hard to know where to start. That's why Green Horizon's "whole house" approach made sense for me and my family." - Kris Fetter, Summer 2011
