Durham NC sprayfoam insulationGreen Horizon expands foam insulation division

DURHAM, NC (August 2009) — Green Horizon announces that it has expanded its home-energy efficiency offerings by adding Raleigh-based foam insulation specialist NextGen Foam Insulation, Inc., and hiring David Evans to head up the company's foam insulation division. Evans is the former owner of NextGen, which he founded in 2006.

As part of the team at Green Horizon — a Durham-based, green-building and home-improvement company founded in 2007 — Evans' primary focus will be selling and managing residential and light commercial spray foam insulation jobs. Sustainable sprays both open and closed cell foam.

“We’re excited to have the knowledge and expertise that David brings to our team through his vast experience at NextGen Foam,” said Bobby Ferrel, co-owner of Green Horizon. “As our company continues to grow and diversify, it’s important to have people like David to manage the important components of our business such as spray foam. With the specialized personnel we’ve added this year, we believe we've effectively positioned ourselves as the go-to contractor for both new and existing home energy-efficiency.”

On folding NextGen Foam Insulation into Green Horizon, Evans said he liked the fact that GH serves as a one-stop shop for existing home energy efficiency improvements. "Green Horizon is doing so many different things," he said. "We go to existing homes, perform an energy audit, and figure out what we need to do to correct that power bill. In the market these days, it's hard to make it with one specialty. GH does not just one, but so many different things you need to do to stay alive these days."

A 1988 graduate of Atlantic Christian College (later Barton College), Evans began his professional career in the field of telecommunications, first with a wire and cable manufacturer that produced high-temperature products used in everything from submarines and space shuttles to telecommunications cable, and later in sales and distribution for Electronic Equipment Analyzer (EEA), one of the oldest communications contractors in the state, where he sold fiber optic systems and telecommunications systems to clients such as IBM and N.C. State University.
