TAX CREDITS FOR GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS
It's true - tax time is not fun. But that bill for the 2012 tax year can become a whole lot easier to swallow when you get rewarded for doing the right thing.

Federal Tax credits of 30% (no maximum) are available on the purchase and installation of a new Geothermal system. In addition, North Carolina also offers a tax credit of up to 65% of the cost of a new Geothermal system! 

UTILITIES PAY YOU TO SAVE MONEY
And the tax man isn't the only one who will cut you some slack.

Progress Energy's Home Improvement program offers rebates ranging from $45 for HVAC tune up and maintenance, to $300 on the purchase and installation of heat pump or AC and Geothermal heating and cooling systems and $375 for attic insulation and air sealing, $330 for duct testing and duct sealing and $450 for window replacement.

Duke Energy will give existing homeowners $200 for a replacement heat pump or AC, Geothermal system. They'll increase the rebate to $300 for new construction.

Piedmont Natural Gas will give you $300 for a new high-efficiency furnace, $250 for a tankless water heater and $50 for a traditional water heater.
